All Things Printrbot, All In One Place!

image

After answering countless posts on PrintrbotTalk.com about where to find this or that. I decided to take it upon myself to start compiling calibration guides, diagrams, YouTube videos, how to’s and much more. This is a work in progress but, hopefully this will help people new to 3D printing as well as seasoned vets. We are adding to this almost everyday so check back for updates. Also we are in the midst of citing our sources for all of the photos and diagrams, so if you see one you made. Let us know so we can give you credit for your contribution.

(This page is being updated constantly, if any links don’t work please let us know. Also note which link is broken so it can be fixed)

  1. I haven’t bought my 3d printer yet, but more or less thinking of getting a printrbot plus with dual extruders. It’s a big investment, so before I shell out money, I am looking for as much information as I can possibly get on the machine. I came across your blog, and I thought it was a very good resource of information for owners and prospective owners of printrbot’s.

I’m worse than a newbie as I don’t have a 3d printer yet, but the information you have collected helps my research a lot. I particularly find the stuff on the electronic/electrical stuff in printrbot very informative. I’m also looking for software to control the printrbot plus with 2 extruders, but have not yet been successful. If you can include information on software that would be very helpful as well.

Does printerbot plus come with some software? or would I have to download it off somewhere? I’m getting my feet wet with openscad, and so far I think that’s do-able. I’ve tested exporting openscad to .stl and then importing it in makerware and it seems to work. I’ve also exported exported stl to slicr and that, too, seems to work. Unfortunately, I can’t (or can I?) simulate printing on a printrbot plus with dual extruder even without the printer just yet. It would be interesting if one can do dry runs without having a printer; I know without the proper heater settings, filament types and printer speeds etc. etc., a dry run may be meaningless, but at least it would be nice to know if the 3d model is theoretically printable. I presume gcode, while universally used, is still 3d printer machine and filament specific; is this correct?

Sorry for picking your brain, but with your site, you seem to be one of the best person to ask. I apologize ahead of time for my stupid questions. My questions clearly reveal my ignorance.

Thank you for your efforts to create this site. I think it will go places.
