Add-Ons And Modifications For Your Printrbot

I decided to make a list of some of the newer mods and add-ons so that you can find all the information on them all in one place. I will also be adding people’s good and bad experiences with these mods, so that you can decide what mods are good for you. We will continue to expand this post by adding more products as well as more reviews.

Upgrade Your Simples Build Volume:
The Printrbot Simple Build Volume Upgrade is an incredibly big deal for this small printer.  It allows your Simple to  print 7.5″ x 4″ x 7.5″ – total volume of 225 cubic inches.

Here is what’s included:
2:  13″ smooth rods

1:  ~10.5″ acme rod

2:  laser cut plates

12:  zip ties

1:  extra string

1:  Y-motor extension

2:  Vinyl tube

2:  sand paper square

Note:  Laser cut wood is standard 1/4″ (6mm) thick

● Carry your Simple around with an integrated handle
● Spool up the included tiny spool for just the right amount of filament for a trip or demo
● The tiny spool (or a full-sized spool) rolls out the filament from above – perfect placement!
● The optional wide-stance legs can clip on and off for travel without the need for tools
● Overall rigidity is substantially increased for the Z/Y axis – reducing twist, sag and resonance
● Assembly is required.

Aluminum Bearing Blocks
This is a new feature INCLUDED with all LC and Plus kits and assembled units. If you do not have these already, they’re a great addition to stabilize your Printrbot even more. 2 LM8UU bearings are pre-installed, and it comes with 8 M4x10mm bolts.

Aluminum Print Platform
*The one pictured is for the Printrbot Plus. It is also available for the Printrbot Simple.

This is a cast aluminum build platform that works with ALL Plus models (v1 and v2) – it makes your heated bed perfectly straight and allows for even better prints with your Printrbot Plus.

LCD Panel
The Printrbot LCD Panel makes it possible to add an LCD panel to your Printrboard. This enables you to print without ever hooking up to a computer. It has one encoder wheel (push button rotary) and an adjustable contrast for the LCD screen. it is a 4 line, 20 character LCD. It includes a 14 pin ribbon cable to hook up to your printrboard. You can download the hex file at the link at the top of the description.

  1. Does anyone know where you can buy the aluminum bearing blocks. I need to update my printer and I have everything but the bearings.

    • Does Printrbot not carry them anymore. If they don’t than I could have you some made as my buddy cnc’s all my aluminum for me. What printer do you have and what version.
